CRISALIDE Participatory workshop June 14-18, 2019

From 14 to 18 June 2019, five partners of the CRISALIDE consortium – Southern Urban Planning Center (Rostov-on-Don, Russia), Urbasofia (Bucharest, Romania), NIRD UBANINCERC (Bucharest, Romania), CORP (Vienna, Austria), SPIIRAS-HTR&DO Scientific and Technical Bureau of High Technologies (St. Petersburg) – and the Southern Federal University (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) held a workshop on “Redevelopment of urban territories” with the participation of representatives of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Rostov-on-Don city Duma, Administration of the Rostov Region and Rostov-on-Don, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, developers, public organizations, architects, urbanists and environmentalists Rostov-on-Don.

The event was held within the framework of the international project CRISALIDE, the winner of the joint Russian-European competition of innovative projects within the framework of the ERA.NET-RUS PLUS program and funded by the Foundation for Assistance to the Development of Small Forms of Enterprises in the Scientific and Technical Sphere (Innovation Promotion Fund). The workshop consisted of six thematic three-hour sessions with the participation of local experts and the final seventh session of the consortium partners. In total, the event was attended by 40 experts and specialists of various profiles.

The area of the old Rostov-on-Don airport was chosen as a test site for creating a prototype decision support system. The choice was due to the value of such a significant territorial resource for the development of the city, great prospects for the application of innovative methods and technologies in planning the development of this territory and its development, the potential for creating a high-quality urban environment, creating opportunities for innovative economic development, creating a positive image of the city and attracting investments.

Sessions on ‘Housing’, ‘Public spaces’, ‘Management’, ‘Mobility’, ‘Environment. Landscape. Heritage’ and ‘Infrastructure’ allowed to discuss key trends, problems and prospects in various areas of planning and development of urban areas, and also showed the great value of the territory of the former airport in the perception of experts.
